What a busy week!

On Tuesday we had our Sports Morning. Thank you to all family members who came to cheer on the children. We  had a great turn out. The teachers were very proud of the children; they all took part in every race and tried really hard, and their behaviour was excellent. Thanks also to all the mums and dads who took part in two very competitive races at the end!

On Wednesday we spent a lovely afternoon at the farm. Miss Hatch, the farm teacher, got us involved with lots of jobs around the farm and introduced us to a range of baby and fully grown animals. The children were able to feed and stroke hens and sheep as well as seeing calves, cows, a bull and some pigs. Again their behaviour was excellent and Miss Hatch was very impressed.

Finally, on Thursday we had lots of Dads, Grandads and other male family members join us in Nursery for our Father’s Afternoon. The children were very excited to have their dads in school and they worked together on a range of activities including: designing a super hero, planting, making key rings, ball skills activities outside, playing on the interactive whiteboard and computers and exploring the Nursery resources. Thank you to everyone who came.

Over the last week and a bit we have had several lovely pets come to see us in Nursery. Thank you to Rhiannon’s mum for bringing the  hens, Alyssa’s dad and Poppy’s mum for bringing in their dogs and to lots of other parents for sending in photos of their pets. The children learnt a lot about how to look after a range of pets. We also had visits from Mrs Mazic’s husky dog ‘Luka’ and Miss Kedge’s springer spaniel ‘Lottie’, as well as Mrs Allen’s two rabbits. On Monday this week Miss Sheppard brought her horse ‘Summer’ to school along with her pony friend ‘Bella’. Summer showed the children some of the tricks she can do and Bella let everyone give her a stroke.

We would like to say a big thank you to all of you who joined us on our Welly Walk and also to everyone who sponsored the children. I am sure you will agree that it was a lovely afternoon. We have now had all the sponsorship money in and are pleased to report that we have raised nearly £600! The child whose family raised the most money is Alyssa Mountford in Nursery with an amazing £85! Well Done Alyssa and thank you to everyone who sponsored her. Alyssa will be receiving her prize of a voucher for The Bear Factory on Monday. Please could any outstanding sponsor money be handed in asap.

We are using some of the money raised to pay for a drama group to come into school on Monday 11th July to carry out a workshop called ‘Minibeast Hotel’. It sounds great fun and will link in really well with the theme on Minibeasts that we will be doing that week. Part-time nursery children will be invited to come in for the morning on that day so that they do not miss out. We will also be putting some of the money towards the cost of taking the children to Mount Pleasant Farm on June 26th, to enable us to keep the contribution requested from parents down.

That’s all for now, please return consent forms for the farm visit as soon as possible. Many Thanks.
