Nursery's Blog

Archive for April 2013

This week we have shared the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. The children loved the story and created some beautiful paintings of their favourite part of the story afterwards. We have also planted our own broad beans and are going to observe them to see what happens.

Some of the nursery children are really interested in junk modelling at the moment. They will spend a long time in the Creative Room using recyclable materials to create all sorts of models. Junk modelling is an excellent activity for developing children’s creativity, mathematical awareness, perseverence, problem solving skills and fine motor skills.

Unfortunately, we can not keep up with the demand for junk modelling resources so we need your help! It would be great if famillies could save and send in the following: empty cereal boxes, egg boxes, yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, plastic bottles, cat food boxes, cardboard tubes, in fact any sort of packaging that could be used to build something.  We would also appreciate old greetings cards, wrapping paper, tags and bows.

Watch this space for photos of future junk model creations!

Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Well done to everyone who made an Easter bonnet or entered the decorated egg competition. We could tell that a lot of time and effort went into your creations. The Nursery children all did really well going up onto the stage, wearing their bonnets, in front of everyone and the winners were Riley Noone and Rhiannon Thomas. Isobelle Browning won the decorated egg competition. Here is Isobelle’s entry – ‘Minnie Mouse in her pool’ and photos of all the children wearing their bonnets.
